The first thing I did when I knew that I had to change my diet was shopping! I completely redesigned the content of my cupboard to include new ingredient that were really good to support my body health. That is how I designed this Top 10 Diabetes Super Food List. It does not mean that I throw away refined sugar, white flour or butter. I kept them but I added new ingredient that will bring a good balance in my recipes. I really thing that eating healthy should include all ingredients and that we should not banish some of them in particular.
I refuse to follow a sugar free diet or fat free diet because I believe it is the best way to bring deficiency in our body. I have been a vegetarian for a while with iron deficiency so trust me I know what it means. My idea of eating healthy is to balance the quantity of each ingredient and to find healthy substitute to the high sugar or high fat ingredient. Sometimes it is just about switching 1 cup of white flour by almond flour, or to use olive oil instead of butter to fry food. It is also about understanding food how the body process them.
